THE NETWORKS CROSS AT SINERGY

From November 3rd to 5th, Rimini Fiera will host the only expo
able to represent the utility network world completely.

Ample space dedicated to the telecommunications sector.

Rimini, 2nd May 2004 - thanks to an efficient sales campaign for exhibit space and simultaneous communication activities, the 2004 edition of SINERGY – TECHNICAL NETWORKS ON SHOW, being held at Rimini Fiera from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th November 2004, continues to go from strength to strength.

Organizers Rimini Fiera and Cenacolo explain, “Within the summer, we’ll present the conference section’s program, to emphasize our interest in proposing an event that hosts discussions on the Italian utility network situation alongside a high profile expo area. We all know the delicate nature of the problems and difficulties slowing down any real progress of this sector’s modern development in Italy. The intent of SINERGY 2004 – TECHNICAL NETWORKS ON SHOW is to offer an important contribution to the innovation process which can’t be postponed any longer, otherwise our technical deficit will increase even further”.

The interest of key players at Italian and international level is focussed on the exhibition event, confirming the need for a meeting point useful for discussing the projects and experiences under way in the utility network world.

Trade sectors being showcased by SINERGY 2004 – Technical Networks on Show include: gas electricity, water, telecom and data transport and distribution networks; the design, construction and management of utility networks; production, supply and sale of energy sources; network equipment, components and measurement instruments; ICT applied to technical networks; marketing, communications and training; trade press.

In short, SINERGY 2004 intends being a ‘vade-mecum’ for all this sector’s trade members who want to find real elements on which to project and work, thanks to a series of conferences and workshop organized by major business and scientific associations, with a particular accent on the legislative and normative problems of this dynamic sector, which still has shortcomings.

The event’s cultural heart remains as announced, i.e. implementation of the directives established for the planning of the services installed underground, in particular a directive of Italy’s Prime Minister (3rd March 1999, Official Gazette 11.3.1999 N° 58) that defines the "Rational organization of underground technical systems”. according to which provincial “capitals” and towns with a resident population of over 30,000 inhabitants, or those visited by large numbers of tourists, must draw up an organic plan for rational use of the subsoil (PUGSS - General town plan of underground services), which must be part of the general town-planning scheme

One of the most important new aspects from an expo point of view at the 2004 edition of SINERGY – TECHNICAL NETWORKS ON SHOW will be the area dedicated to telecommunications, particularly companies involved in the entire chain of this constantly evolving sector.
This zone will host city cabling and equipping companies, manufacturers of signal reception equipment and network management firms. The expo area will also showcase products for utility network management.
After the boom due to the installation of fibre optics networks, for which costs and environmental impact (road works, etc.) were very high, new wireless network technology ensures the same performance and operating quality is guaranteed. This enables networks to include suburban areas, which would otherwise be difficult to reach.

SINERGY 2004 – TECHNICAL NETWORKS ON SHOW will also offer a comprehensive overview of the emerging situation on the local TLC market, including those ex-municipal companies offering combined environment and energy services and approaching the telecommunications world to complete the package offered to their clients.
After a period of in which they moved away from these markets, public utility management companies are now showing renewed interest in this market and, during the Rimini event, it will be very interesting to see exactly the extent of this interest.

Lastly, the Sinergy 2004 organizing committee, in collaboration with SAFE (Energy Source Environmental Sustainability) has announced three Scholarships, which will be awarded to university students intending to undertake the preparation of a degree thesis, to be disputed within July 2005.
The deadline for sending applications is 30th June 2004. The winners’ award ceremony and the presentation of the theses will held at Sinergy 2005 and the value of the scholarships has been set at 1,000 euros each. Information can be found on the web site www.sinergyexpo.com

TECHNICAL NETWORKS ON SHOW IN RIMINI
FROM 3rd TO 5th NOVEMBER 2004

Rimini, 30th March 2004 - The Sinergy project, launched with the Energy Forum in 2003, has a new slant in the event dedicated to technical (utility) networks. SINERGY 2004 – NETWORKS TECHNICAL ON SHOW is an absolutely new event for Italy and intends facing the various aspects of the issue, covering it from a normative, technical and managerial point of view.

Rimini Fiera and Cenacolo, the organizers of the SINERGY project, have launched this expo and conference initiative, which will present the most advanced solutions for the design, construction and management of utility networks used to transport energy, water and telecom services.

Among the most important issues that will be covered at SINERGY 2004 – Technical Networks on Show, the rational use of subsoil, particularly regarding installation and management of utilities located underground.
As is known, Italian legislators set criteria and norms for the planning of services running underground and, in particular, a directive of the Prime Minister (3rd March 1999, Official Gazette 11.3.1999 N° 58) defines the "Rational organization of underground technical systems”. The aim is to ensure public administrations a new instrument for city land planning which, when used alongside and integrated with those already existing, enables subsoil use to be programmed and disciplined.
On the basis of this directive, the provincial “capital” and towns with a resident population of over 30,000 inhabitants or those with temporary increases in population due to seasonal tourism, had to draw up (within a five-year period and depending on the resources available) an organic plan for rational use of the subsoil; the PUGSS (General town plan of underground services), which must be part of the general town planning scheme and will have to be put into practice according to the town development procedure.
An example that can be taken as a starting point is Lombardy Regional Law N° 26 of 12.12.2003 which, in a norm regarding the management of waste, energy, use of subsoil and water resources (in Art. 34) establishes criteria for the realization of infrastructures for installing aqueducts, sewage, energy and gas transport networks, telecommunications, remote heating and cables underground. The infrastructure, as is written in the norm, is considered a work of public utility and considered as primary urbanization works to all effects.
However, too little has been done in this direction and the aim of SINERGY 2004 Technical Networks on Show, in collaboration with the key utility system players, is to offer a more rapid realization procedure.

In the context of SINERGY 2004 Technical Networks on Show, there will also be numerous conferences coordinated by the event’s scientific committee and dedicated to the hottest topics in the utility network world.

Trade sectors spotlighted at SINERGY 2004 Networks on Show are: gas, electricity, water, telecommunications and data transport and distribution networks; design, construction and management of utility networks; production, supply and sale of energy sources (gas, electricity and water); energy equipment, system components and measurement instruments; ICT applied to technical networks; marketing, communications and training; trade press.
